FAQs – Real Student Perspective
How did you enroll in NIFT? Could you briefly explain the basic admissions procedure?
Appearing for the NIFT entrance test, which is only open to applicants who have scored at least 50% as the eligibility criteria. First, the General Aptitude Test (GAT) is conducted for the applicants, it is then followed by the Creative Aptitude Test (CAT). When you clear both of these admission stages, you will be called for the Situation Test round where you will be asked to create a 3D model. If you succeed in this round also, you will be given a score, and you will be offered admissions in different NIFT campuses according to your rank.
What does a typical college day look like for you?
Generally, a typical college day will start around 8:30 a.m. and end somewhere between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. However, the average time spent in college is mainly dependent on the number of lectures attended during the day. Such unpredictability is a fundamental part of Student Life at NIFT.
Does the college provide any hostel facility?
The hostel facility was there earlier but with the introduction of more courses, the hostel area has been converted into regular college grounds. However, the college has a hostel outside the campus, but only ladies are allowed to stay there. There is no hostel for boys.
Is the college very strict? How are classes conducted?
Requirement for attendance is that a student must have 65% attendance in each subject and 75% attendance overall.
Professors are not very strict; they are really nice. A batchmate of Sabyasachi is our professor, and he keeps telling us stories about his college days. It is very interesting to know that someone so famous is an alumnus from our college, which adds to the inspiration of Student Life at NIFT.
