The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the most reputable national exam for post-graduate courses like Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Engineering (ME) and even PhD programs for admission in top institutes like Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs). GATE exam 2026, is organised by Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Guwahati along with all the 7 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science(IISc), Bangalore on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. GATE scores are also used as criteria for recruitment in various PSU’s (Public Sector Undertakings) like BHEL, SAIL, SBI, NTPC etc.
This exam assesses the candidates for a comprehensive understanding of different undergraduate-level subjects in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Architecture/ Humanities.

GATE Admit card
Admit card for GATE exam 2026 is expected to be released in the second week of January, tentatively. IIT Guwahati will likely release the hall ticket through the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in. To download the admit card, candidates have to provide their enrollment ID and password. Candidates are advised to keep on checking for updates regarding admit card.
